"Windows protected your PC" warning

Seeing "Windows protected your PC" when installing the StreamEmber Launcher? Click More info → Run anyway, but only for a file from the official site.

By StreamEmber TeamCreator success ·

"Windows protected your PC" is Microsoft Defender SmartScreen. It appears for apps that are new or not yet widely downloaded, and it does not mean a virus was found. If you downloaded the StreamEmber Launcher from download.streamember.com, click More info, then Run anyway to continue the setup.

Only do this for the installer from our official download site: download the StreamEmber Launcher. Never run a "StreamEmber" installer from another website, a chat message or a file-sharing link. After setup, read what the StreamEmber Launcher does and how one-click install sets up games and mods for you.

How to install the launcher past the SmartScreen warning

  1. 1

Download only from the official site

Use the Download buttons on this website. They open download.streamember.com, and the installer file is named StreamEmberLauncher-Setup followed by the version number.

  2. 2

    Click More info

When the blue "Windows protected your PC" window opens, click the More info link under the message. Only the Don't run button is shown until you do.

  3. 3

    Click Run anyway

Check that the app name is the StreamEmberLauncher-Setup file you downloaded, then click Run anyway and finish the setup wizard.

  4. 4

If your antivirus removed the file

If the installer disappears or setup stops, your antivirus may have quarantined it. In Windows Security, open Virus & threat protection → Protection history (or your antivirus's quarantine) and restore or allow the file, but only if it came from download.streamember.com.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to click Run anyway?

Yes, if the file came from download.streamember.com. The warning means SmartScreen does not know the file well yet; it is not a virus detection.

Do I have to do this again for every update?

Usually not. After installation the launcher checks for new versions itself, asks you, then downloads and installs the update.

Is there a Mac or Linux version?

No. The StreamEmber Launcher runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit only.
